Originally from Brest, in Brittany, Jean Brieuc Chevalier initially pursued a career in science before training as a cabinetmaker, earning a CAP, a BMA, and then a DMA. In 2012, he founded his workshop in Angers, giving tangible form to a long-standing passion for woodworking and sewing—two fields he has explored in tandem since his earliest professional experiences.
This hybrid approach gives rise to unique pieces that blend woodworking and embroidery techniques. Very early on, her work caught the attention of architects and designers. Collaborations with Aurélie Rimbert, Léa Zeroil, and the OUD studio have gradually enriched her artistic vision and established a distinctive style.
The year 2021 marked a turning point with his participation in the Salon Révélations, where he met the architect Maxime d’Angeac. This encounter led to the creation of the headboards for the new Orient Express, which are now on display at the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris.
In 2025, the studio participated in the exhibition *Les Nouveaux Ensembliers* and created several pieces for the architects at Studio OUD. That same year, Jean-Brieuc Chevalier was honored with the Exceptional Talent Award for Intelligence of the Hand, presented by the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation. His screen, *Mille-Fleurs*, crafted entirely from marquetry and embroidery, will be featured at Homo Faber in Venice in September 2026.
At the same time, the studio is collaborating with textile designers Lily Alcaraz and Léa Berliez on wooden weaves incorporated into furniture and interior design projects, notably for Cartier boutiques.
