Campus MaNa offers a unique training course in coppersmithing, led by Nathanaël Le Berre, master coppersmith and winner of the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Intelligence of the Hand. He introduces participants to the art of transforming copper and brass, imparting exceptional expertise that blends tradition and creativity.
During an immersive week in the Campus MaNa metalwork workshops, participants will benefit from professional training supervised by a master coppersmith. This unique experience will immerse them in the world of artistic transformation of sheet metal (copper and brass). Under the expert guidance of Nathanaël Le Berre, they will discover traditional coppersmithing techniques applied to sculpture, combining artistic creativity and technical precision. Through practical sessions, they will learn how to transform metal sheets into aesthetic and functional shapes, including mastering finishing techniques through the application of patinas.

Coppersmithing is a traditional art that involves transforming sheets of copper, brass, or other metals into sculpted objects, often with elegant and organic shapes. Heir to ancestral know-how, this technique combines technical mastery, artistic sensitivity, and precision of movement.
During this course, you will discover the fundamentals of coppersmithing: from preparing and cutting metal sheets to shaping volumes through hammering, folding, and bending. You will learn to use traditional tools and master the essential techniques that bring the material to life.
Coppersmithing is also the art of finishing: polishing, patinas, and textures will enhance your creations, revealing the richness and warmth of hand-worked metal.
This course is designed to offer a comprehensive experience, combining theory, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in the workshop. It is aimed at anyone wishing to learn or improve their skills in this artistic craft, developing a technical and creative approach.

Nathanaël Le Berre began his artistic career in 1995 at the Olivier de Serres School (ENSAAMA) in Paris. In 1997, he turned to metal sculpture and developed a particular passion for copperware, a skill he explores with rigor and sensitivity.
In 2014, he was awarded the prestigious Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Intelligence of the Hand, in the "Exceptional Talent" category.
His work has been featured in several major international exhibitions, including Wonder Lab in 2017, which honored 15 French masters at the Tokyo National Museum, and then in 2018 at the National Museum of China in Beijing. More recently, he collaborated with the GGSV studio to create lighting for the “19M” restaurant in Aubervilliers, a place dedicated to crafts and contemporary creation.
