Since the 14th century, the art of coppersmithing, born in Dinant in Belgium, has been the noble form of the boilermaker's trade. As part of this training, Nathanaël Le Berre, master coppersmith, and Tristan Colafrancesco, metalworker artist, combine their know-how to introduce the transformation of copper and brass.
At the end of the training, the trainee will have assimilated:
Introduction to traditional coppersmithing techniques
Acquisition of the essential gestures to transform a sheet of metal into volume
Introduction to finishing and patina techniques
Learning hammering to decorate the sheet of metal
During an immersive week dedicated to copperwork in the metal workshops of Campus MaNa, participants will have the opportunity to benefit from professional training led by a great master copperworker. This unique experience will open the doors to the fascinating world of the artistic transformation of sheet metals (copper and brass).
Guided by the expertise of Nathanaël Le Berre, they will explore the traditional techniques of copperwork applied to sculpture, skillfully combining artistic creativity with technical precision.
Through practical sessions, they will acquire the essential gestures to transform a sheet of metal into volume by creating pieces that are both aesthetic and functional, with varied finishes through the application of a patina.
Nathanaël Le Berre began his artistic studies at the Olivier de Serres school (ENSAAMA) in Paris in 1995. In 1997, he joined the metal sculpture workshop where he developed a passion for the technique of copperware.
