Discover the fascinating world of prototyping with David Toppani, a renowned model maker and prototyper who has been working alongside architects, designers, luxury brands and design agencies since 1988. At the heart of this immersive training, David will share his unique know-how, nourished by thousands of projects, to introduce you to the creation of prototypes, from the first sketches to models and unique pieces. By exploring concrete examples of scenography projects, design objects, artistic installations and architectural models, he will reveal the secrets of his workshop, between art, craftsmanship and industry.
Training Objectives:
Discover the stages of prototyping: from the initial idea to the creation of a functional model, including sketching and selection of materials.
Master manufacturing techniques: understand the different methods and tools to design realistic prototypes, with an overview of the cutting-edge machines and technologies used in the workshop.
Optimizing creativity and problem solving: learning to transform an abstract idea into a tangible model, adapting to the aesthetic, technical and economic requirements of each project.
Exploring the fields of application of prototyping: specific approaches for architectural projects, product design, scenography for commerce, and artistic creations.
Training program:
Introduction to the profession of prototypist: the career and achievements of David Toppani, the essential role of prototyping in design and architecture.
The key stages of prototyping: case study and practical demonstrations on the manufacture of prototypes in small series and advertising objects.
Craftsmanship and innovation: designing adapted technical solutions, integrating aesthetics and technical constraints.
Visit of the workshop: immersion in the workshop to smell the materials, hear the machines, and share the excitement of a team of passionate creators.
Labeled Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant by the State, David Toppani's workshop embodies French know-how applied to the design and manufacture of prototypes. This training is an invitation to dive into the world of prototyping, where each prototype is both a sketch and a work of art in the making, combining innovation and artisanal tradition.
Whether you are a designer, architect, or simply curious about the creative process, this training offers you an enriching experience to explore the art of bringing your ideas to life.
Manual since childhood, and after having tried classical education, I preferred to orient myself in technical sector with a BEP Wood. In 1979 I joined the Boulle school in cabinetmaking where I passed my CAP and my BT of cabinetmaking then the diploma of the Boulle school and the BTS of Interior Architecture and creation of furniture. Following my final year internship within the company NEMO, Parisian design studio, I was hired as soon as I obtained my diploma for 2 years. My work consisted of making color renderings, technical plans and furniture models. Missing the workshop and manual work, I decided to stop my salaried activity to create the Ûfactodont workshop, I have been the manager since 1988. For 35 years, the Ufacto workshop has been offering expertise in the field of prototyping, the manufacture of designer objects and furniture as well as design set or event elements, but also services for visual artists. We work with a wide range of materials, such as plastics; resins; wood but also surface treatments, namely spray painting. My training and experience in prototyping have led me to always be looking for technical solutions to meet the demands of creators.
