Based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Rino Claessens is part of a new generation of designers for whom the manufacturing process serves as a true laboratory for research. A graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, he has developed a practice rooted in experimentation with materials and the careful observation of how they transform.
At the heart of his work, the studio becomes a laboratory where experimentation, manipulation, and technical innovations fuel the creative process. By exploring the interactions between materials, craftsmanship, and function, he examines how manufacturing processes influence the form and meaning of objects.
Straddling the line between contemporary design and craftsmanship, Rino Claessens employs a wide range of techniques, from casting and carving to engraving and surface treatment. This unique approach has earned him international recognition, and his work has been included in the permanent collection of the Vitra Design Museum.
